Govt tries to ease cash crunch, help small businesses restart Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman spelt out plans to provide liquidity to small and medium enterprises and also initiate reforms that would redefine the sector. The package focused largely on providing cash for the MSME sector, NBFCs, housing finance firms and micro finance companies. While the Rs 3-lakh-crore automatic loan for businesses and MSMEs is backed by government guarantee, the burden will be felt by PSBs. Similarly, the Rs 90,000-crore liquidity infusion for distribution companies will be handled by entities such as Power Finance Corporation and Rural Electrification Corporation. 30,000 tickets for 54,000 rail passengers booked in 3 hours The railways is set to resume a limited number of passenger services on May 12 after a nearly 50-day hiatus and has started taking online bookings on IRCTC. Testing capacity for Covid-19 scaled up to 95,000 per day: Union Health Minister The testing capacity for Covid-19 has been scaled up to around 95,000 tests per day and a total of 15,25,631 tests have been conducted so far across 332 government and 121 private laboratories, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Saturday. The minister reviewed the status of Covid-19 in the northeastern states along with the measures taken for its containment.
