Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) has released Global military expenditure data which shows a rise of 3.6% (USD 1,917 billion) in 2019.SIPRI which headquarter is in Solna, Sweden has also reported that this was the largest annual spike in the decade since 2010.where china and India being the second largest spenders after the US for the first time followed by Russia and Saudi Arabia.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced a special liquidity facility of Rs 50,000 crore for mutual funds (SLF-MF), in a move to ease the liquidity pressures on mutual funds amid coronavirus crisis. Under the SLF-MF, the RBI shall conduct repo operations of 90 days tenor at the fixed repo rate.

The maximum loan amount is 5,000 per member of a Self Help Group with a cap of Rs 1 lakh without any kind of processing fee.

The Pakistan Navy has successfully test-fired a series of anti-ship missiles from Surface & Aviation units in the North Arabian Sea. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi witnessed the firing of the missiles. The missiles were fired from surface ships, fixed and rotary-wing aircraft.

While India records a death rate of 3.1% for Covid-19 patients, this is much higher at 4.71% for patients in Ahmedabad. Against 899 deaths in 28,622 cases in India, Ahmedabad recorded 102 deaths of 2,167 cases till Monday. This is higher than Mumbai which has recorded 204 deaths out of 5,407( 3.77%) and Delhi’s deaths of 54 to the infected 2,919 cases ( 1.85%).

The Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management-Kerala has developed an AI semantic search engine to enable researchers to get deeper insights into COVID-19-related scientific studies. The search engine has been named 'Vilokana' which means 'finding out' in Sanskrit.





The PRACRITI (Prediction and Assessment of Corona Infections and Transmission in India) dashboard will provide the R0 values of each district and state in India based on the data available from sources such as the MoHFW, NDMA, and WHO. The platform will be useful for healthcare bodies, local and central authorities.

Indian railways to cancel booking till 30th April: Indain railways cancel booking                      The Railways of India cancelled bookings up to 30th April for three privately operated trains amid the uncertainty over the extension of the 21-day national lock down. The railways cancelled bookings for the following trains KASHI-MAHAKAL EXPRESS which runs between Varanasi to Indore; TEJAS EXPRESS runs between Ahemadabad and Mumbai it also runs between Delhi and Lucknow. If the booking was done previously they will be refunded.
